Jan, Day Hiking Ambassador
Last season I started posting our snowshoeing adventures to Instagram, and have attracted many followers who want to be part of the excitement created by the Colorado snowshoe experience. We have enjoyed making connections with several like-minded, adventure driven people this season and what we have learned is that making snowshoeing connections has lead us to the most memorable trail discoveries and experiences.
We met Amy, an avid runner, hiker and snowshoe fan at her suggestion, for a sunrise snowshoe. We weren’t disappointed with the delightful colors washing across the sky as we started on the trail. This trail, Mayflower Gulch, is located between Frisco and Leadville and offers spectacular views of the Ten Mile Range.
Another connection we made was with Heather, a fitness and outdoor enthusiast who is adding snowshoeing to her repertoire of winter activities. Our snowshoe adventure covered some amazing scenery, in the quaint majestic gulch valley of Minturn which is south of Vail.
It’s been an adventurous season despite the lower than average snowfall amounts. With the day light stretching longer and temperatures showing signs of spring, we plan to keep reaching out to our friends, family and followers to share the joy of snowshoeing.
