Tubbs Snowshoes, the leading manufacturer of lightweight, versatile snowshoes for men, women, and kids, is proud to announce its recent donation of 150 pairs of snowshoes to five non-profit organizations throughout the country. With a total retail value of just over $25,000, this marks one of the most significant product donations in the brand’s history. The five non-profits that Tubbs donated to include AMC Boston Family Outings, The Veterans Educations and Research Association of Northern New England,Manitowoc County Miracles (Special Olympics), Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, and Splore.

“We are excited about the opportunity we’ve had this year to provide snowshoes to so many wonderful and deserving organizations,” states Marketing Manager, Kelsey Boyce. “From helping at-risk youth stay active in the winter, to helping veterans with physical and mental rehabilitation, our donations will reach far into the communities in which these various organizations are located.”

The breadth of organizations selected by Tubbs exemplifies the brand’s commitment to making snowshoeing an increasingly more accessible form of winter recreation for so many to enjoy the outdoors. About AMC Boston Family Outings
AMC Boston Family Outings is an active group of parents who like to get outdoors with our kids. We meet to hike, camp and bike in the summer and snowshoe, ski, skate or sled in the colder months. We all know that our kids are happiest and healthiest when they spend time outdoors – and they love being with other kids – that’s what our trips provide. Our leaders are AMC members and parents experienced in the outdoors. We have close to 100 active leaders and assistants that make this all possible.

About The Veterans Education and Research Association of the Northern New England
The Veterans Education and Research Association of Northern New England works with four VA medical centers (White River Junction, VT, Manchester, NH, Togus, ME, and Northampton, MA) to support research and education programs that benefit veterans.  We support a wide range of research efforts, from basic science to clinical science projects.  In the education arena, we fund diverse programs that directly serve veterans and promote active, healthy lifestyles.  Recently we have funded education programs on horticulture, nutrition, domestic violence prevention, and a wide range of adaptive sports.  Adaptive sports programs are a critically import adjunct to the medical care provided by VA medical centers, and can dramatically improve overall quality of life for individual veterans.

About Manitowoc County Miracles (Special Olympics)
We are the “Manitowoc County Miracles” organization through Special Olympics. Manitowoc is a smaller city, which has a population of around 35,000 residents. The “Miracle” has around 200 athletes, but only a small amount of athletes go out for winter sport which include snowshoeing. The reason for a small number of athletes in snowshoeing is due to lack of snowshoes, but with Tubbs very gracious gift of 20 pairs of snowshoes (10 male & 10 female snowshoes) we now expect to have more athletes involved in the great sport of snowshoeing.

About Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center
Founded in 1971, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in environmental education.  The Wolf Ridge campus is located in Finland, MN and sits atop a high ridgeline overlooking Lake Superior. Wolf Ridge creates a passion for the natural world and outdoor adventure in the 12,000 young people that come to their 2000 acre campus during the school year and the 800 young people and families that attend their winter and summer camps. All who come to Wolf Ridge are immersed in a dynamic hands-on outdoor education where they learn about the natural world, climate change, sustainable practices, environmental science, and conservation. They have outdoor adventures and discover new things about themselves.

About Splore
Splore changes lives by challenging and expanding one’s notion of ability through meaningful outdoor adventure. Splore adventures are uniquely suited to challenge preconceived ideas of what is possible, both for participants and their loved ones. Historically, it was thought that to care for someone with a disability meant sheltering him or her from the world. Risk-taking was feared and avoided. At Splore, we believe that there is dignity in risk-taking and that it is an inherent part of living a full and robust life. We manage the risk of our adventures, so that every Splore participant feels empowered and dignified. Splore trips leave participants with an expanded sense of what they can accomplish both individually and as a family. Many have described this transformation as magical.
