Finding Solitude Snowshoeing in the Backcountry
Terry, Backcountry Ambassador
Last year when I applied for ambassadorship with Tubbs Snowshoes my application included a story on my solo trip of Mount Dickerman I had taken the year before. This trip was also the decisive factor in me applying for the Backcountry Ambassador.
Although I could easily fall into the criteria of Family, and Day Hiking as I enjoy this type of snowshoeing, my real passion is in the solitude of the backcountry.
Recently I was able to repeat this trip to Mount Dickerman and snowshoe its 8.2 miles and 3950 feet of elevation gain all in the remote silence of winter. Not a soul to be seen or tracks to be followed, you couldn’t ask for more.
